The basic principles of the Lichtenberg®  Method

Almost everyone who is able to speak, is in contact with his or her vocal function on a daily basis. Most of the time we have made peace with the means available und have got used to the sound and the timbre of our voice.

But if you have to meet new vocal challenges or if you get the urge to sing, you can quickly feel the need to unfold your potential a bit more. The Lichtenberg® Method helps to develop a manner of speaking and singing which gets its bearings in the physical situation of the singer, speaker or instrumentalist.

Before acknowledging the requirements of different styles of music, acting or reciting, it is crucial to discover your body as resonant, vibrant entity.

By using a methodology that specifically aims at developping the ability of self-perception and inspires and encourages processes of self-regulation, you can create a completely new access to your vocal and instrumental expression.

So you can find your sensoric identity, which does not only help you to develop a more flexible, vibrant voice with an excellent projection, but also minimizes your efforts when using it.

Reflexiveness

When we speak or sing, we tend to choose an external orientation – after all we want to „express ourselves“. Pressure, however, should not be the method of choice, if we are aiming for an effective and sustainable way of vocal training. But by developing our sensoric abilities, especially our hearing capacities, we can relieve our vocal tract and achieve much more acoustic impact with less effort.

Verticality

The focus on vertical structures of the body, which can transmit and intensify vibrations, opens up inner regions, that had been insulated before. The larynx becomes the source for a „column of vibrancy“, which might be experienced as a „spine made of sounds“. It provides the entire system with a new balance between stability and flexibility.

Sensory reception

By using the Lichtenberg® Method a new relation to the sensory organs and receptors can be obtained. So it becomes possible to develop a independent sensoric identity.

Especially important is the impact of the parasympatic nervous system, because it supports the most subtle sensory receptions and pioneers the process of self-organisation in the body.

High Frequencies

In some old cultures animals like bees, crickets or whoopers were considered holy because they utter sounds that have a structuring effect on the human body. These are certain frequencies in the range above 3000 Hz. Reintegrating them organically into the sound of your voice stimulates the self-regulation of your system and increases the efficiency and intensity of your vocal expression.
